We had such an exciting day today because willie the therapy dog came to visit our classroom! We earned a special reading time with Willie the dog because we earned the most money in kindergarten this past week! Willie the dog and his owner, Mrs. Summers, came and read some great books with us this afternoon. We took some time to learn more about Willie and why he is so important to different people. We got the chance to pet Willie and ask some questions about him. We had a great time reading with Willie! Thanks for the support at home so we could read with him!

OCtober 22nd is our parent education conference. Our administration would like your feedback on some topics that you would be interested in discussing during this education conference.
If you are interested, please click on the google form link below to enter in your feedback. All feedback is greatly appreciated. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1SJcBQx-LDWgW83sQQiNFjftwf6ahyknq3pFD_KAwHtM/viewform Thanks! It's Read-a-Thon Time! MES has started our annual fundraising program to help raise money for our school. We are looking for each of you to help participate and donate in any way that you can!
Your child came home with a Read and Raise flyer that has a secret code and their name on the bottom. You will need to go to the listed website and register your child. Next, you will need to find sponsors that will help donate to your child and this program. You can ask family, friends, coworkers or neighbors! Raise as much money as you can! Next, Your child will read for 10 sessions for 10 minutes! You will log your child's reading onto the website and your child will build "Rat Bucks" that will allow them to shop for prizes! Based on the amount of rat bucks your child earns, they will get the opportunity to choose between different prizes while also helping raise money for mes! We look forward to everyone registering and finding sponsors to help raise money for our school! We will be starting weekly homework this upcoming week. You can find the digital copies of the homework on this website under the Homework tab on the left side of the screen.
Please click on the files that are listed below the current week that we are on. There is a homework sheet that will list each day's homework assignment and what will need to be completed. Most of the activities can be done through technology or with supplies from home. There may be some activities that will need to be printed at home. Homework does not need to be handed in. If you notice that there is a specific skill that your child needs additional help with, please work on those at home. All of the homework activities will align with the skills that we are working on in the classroom. If you do not have a home printer and would like a hard copy sent home in your child's "take home folder", please let me know and I would be happy to do so. We are working hard on not sending home copies of homework and making our homework more digital! Please let me know if you have ANY questions and I would be happy to answer those for you! Here at Morrisville we love to get our community and parents involved with some great projects that we are interested in purchasing or having for our classrooms and school.
There is a great website called Donor's Choose that allows for parents, families and businesses to donate towards classroom and school projects. This year in Kindergarten, we created a project to help each classroom have a colorful alphabet rug in each room. This will allow for active engagement, personal space as well as letter/sound recognition. One of our Kindergarten track 2 teachers, Mrs. Byrd, has created a project that we would like for you to take a look at. Even though the project was created by another kindergarten teacher, these rugs will be used for all kindergarten classes. Please think about donating to our project so that we can continue active engagement in our classrooms. Click the link below to be sent to her classroom project website. Any donation is greatly appreciated and accepted! Thanks so much! http://www.donorschoose.org/Laura.Byrd I hope you are all enjoying the first track out of the year! Just a few reminders:
The students will return to a full day of school on Monday, August 17th. It will be a regular school day so please make sure to pack a lunch, snack and rest towel. There is an early release coming up on Friday, September 4th. The students will be dismissed at 1:15pm. I will be sending out more information about afternoon transportation as we get closer to that date. Thanks again for the support at home and please feel free to email me with any questions! See you all on Monday! :) |
